Raipur: Chhattisgarh government is planning to speed up the process of setting up ethanol production plants in the state. According to the media report, it will also cancel 158 Memoranda of understanding (MOUs), including those signed at the Global Investors Meet, as the proceedings for their implementation did not take off.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, in a meeting, also directed to examine and approve the capital investment proposals for setting up plants for the production of ethanol from maize and sugarcane.
One after another new investment is coming into the ethanol sector in the country. In the recent past, many companies had announced capital expenditure for ethanol production.
Recently government had advanced the ethanol blending target from 2030 to 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
