Patna: The regional development board (RDB) commission paid by the sugar mills on the purchase of sugarcane has been reduced from 1.80 per cent to 0.20 per cent for the 2021-22 cane crushing season.
This came into effect after the state cabinet approved the government’s proposal in this regard on Friday.
The reduction in RDC is part of an economic package for the sugar mills during the crisis faced by the sugar industry.
The Bihar government took the decision to help the sugar mills to come over the financial crisis they are facing and assist them in clearing the cane dues.
Bihar is also taking steps to increase ethanol production in line with the Central government’s target to achieve 20 per cent ethanol blending with petrol by 2025.
