Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh has become the largest ethanol-producing state in the country. The state is leaving no stone unturned to meet the ethanol production target set by the Central government
According to the news agency IANS, 58 crore litres of ethanol has been produced by 54 distilleries established across the state.
The additional payment of Rs 864 crore earned by selling ethanol was sent to the accounts of the sugarcane farmers that have brought relief to the farmers.
The Central government has undertaken several supply and demand side interventions since 2014 which has enabled improvement in ethanol blending from average 1.53% during Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) 2013-14 to 7.93% during ongoing ESY 2020-21 as on July 12, 2021.
Ethanol output is likely to increase in the upcoming season 2021-22 as the government has emphasised its production.
One after another new investment is coming into the ethanol sector in the country. In the recent past, many companies had announced capital expenditure for ethanol production.
Recently government had advanced the ethanol blending target from 2030 to 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
