Umerkote, Odisha: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) will set up a new grain-based ethanol plant at Nabarangpur with a capacity of 500-KLPD. It will be helmed in two phases at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore. It is expected that this will boost the economic activities in the region. It was one of the seven projects approved by the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA).
The project is expected to generate employment for more than 500 persons which has brought cheers for the district as most of the youths migrate to other states in search of jobs.
According to the news report published in Newindianexpress.com, Umerkote MLA Nityananda Gond said, “Farmers will get a better price for their produce and assured buyers for their crop.”
Labours migration is a critical issue in the district and with the ethanol project, it is likely to decline.
