Mumbai: The equity benchmark indices ended lower today after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday kept repo rate unchanged for seventh time straight and continued with an accommodative stance, citing the need to support ongoing growth recovery amid continued uncertainty and global financial market volatility. Sensex closed on 6th August at 215.12 points lower at 54,277.72. Nifty ended 56.40 points lower at 16,238.20.
In the previous season, Sensex closed on 4th August at 546.41 points higher at 54,369.77. Nifty ended 128.05 points higher at 16,258.80.
Cipla, Reliance Industries, Shree Cements, UltraTech Cement and SBI were the top Nifty losers. IndusInd Bank, Adani Ports, IOC, Bharti Airtel and Tata Consumer Prodcts were among the top gainers.
