Cogen Association of India geared up to march ahead towards self-reliance in energy

As India powers ahead to meet its clean energy goals through the chalked plan of the energy development programme, the India sugar industry has also been responding competently and is now gearing ahead with enhanced capacities and executional plans.

In a recent conversation with Mr. Sanjay Khatal, Director General – Cogen Association of India he shared his views on how the organisation is paving its way towards exploring various avenues of the energy development programme. He said, “The sugar industry has responded and is welcoming various energy programmes right from co-generation, solar, bio-cng and many more. I extend my appeal given by the Honorable Prime Minister with the country’s target of achieving self-reliance in energy production through a mix of electric mobility, gas-based economy, blending ethanol in petrol to make the country a hub for hydrogen production by 2047.”

“Sugar millers especially in the rural areas can play a pivotal role in contributing for this programme alongside providing good employment opportunities and predominantly a fundamental grid stability. Sugar mills are well positioned to march with the Nation and reciprocate massively to build a green economy. There are many regulations and policies that need to be addressed that would be encouraging for industrialists and entrepreneurs, we are trying our best in bridging gaps that would bring in a more lucrative environment for stakeholders altogether.

I am elated to share that we are releasing the ‘Sugar Cogeneration Handbook 2021’ tomorrow. It is a unique compendium on Bio-energy.” Khatal further added.
