Nigeria aims to stop the importation of sugar by 2023, said Mohammad Nanono, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
He was speaking on the occasion of the opening ceremony of a 2-day FeedtheFuture Summit 2021 organised in Abuja with the theme, ‘Post COVID-19: A Repaired Food System, Pathway to a Revived Economy.”
Minister said, “We have made a huge investment in the sugar sector and I hope that within two years we will produce enough sugar that will cater to the domestic demand of the country and we will not have to import sugar.”
“The Dangote Group, Flour Mill Group and Bua Group will produce the sugar sufficient to meet our demands,” he further added.
