Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh) : With an aim to curb out the system of paper mechanism and promote digitalisation in the sugar industry, the measure has been taken in Uttar Pradesh. The farmers will now receive information regarding the weight and receipt of sugarcane through SMS.
In the first phase, it will be implemented in Hanspur, Nauvakheda, Rajri Divtya, Rampur Maka and Amritapur. Now the farmers will be able to weight the sugarcane by showing their receipt on mobile. The administration says it will also eliminate the fake receipt prevailing in the industry.
This arrangement will be applied at five centres in a week. After an order from sugarcane commissioner, this process has commenced. Administration set a target to make sugarcane weighing paperless in the next crushing season, following which paper will be saved and also help the environment.
