We are committed to ensure factories pay FRP to all sugarcane supplying farmers: Minister

Belgavi, Karnataka: The centre has fixed the fair and remunerative price (FRP) for sugarcane at Rs 2900 per tonne for cane crushed at the rate of 10% recovery, said Shankar Patil Munenakoppa, the Minister for Sugar and Textiles in Belgavi on Tuesday.

According to the news report published in Thehindu.com, he said, “We are committed to ensuring that the factories pay FRP to all sugarcane supplying farmers. We will ask the Deputy Commissioners to see that the factories pay the arrears.”

The mills have for this season cleared 99.97% of the cane dues so far and the remaining dues will be cleared soon, he said.

He stated that few sugar mills out of total 64 sugar mills in the state owe dues worth Rs 42.17 crore to the cane farmers for this season.
