Muzaffarnagar: Sugarcane cultivation is once again turning to a favourite crop of farmers and the area under cane cultivation in Muzaffarnagar district has increased to 1,68,015 lakh hectare in 2021-22 crushing season.
As per news agency PTI, District Cane Officer RD Dwivedi said, “Within few years the area under cane cultivation has increased to 1,68,015 lakh hectare. In 2016-17 the area under cane cultivation was 1,26,972 lakh hectare.”
In 2017-18, the area under cane cultivation was 1,31,954 lakh hectares. Since then the area under cane cultivation continues to increase in the district as the farmers are expecting good returns from sugarcane crops than any other crop.
There are eight sugar mills in the district that have started preparations to start cane crushing season next month.
