Sugarcane crushing season has picked up pace in Maharashtra’s Pune region. According to the sugar commissionerate, 27 sugar mills in the Pune division have participated in the cane crushing operations and produced 45.08 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 47.66 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.46 per cent till November 29, 2021.
Total 171 sugar mills in Maharashtra have participated in the cane crushing operations which include 85 cooperative and 86 private sugar mills. The mills have produced 192.73 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 212.13 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.09 per cent.
