Pune: Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra has picked up with as many as 173 sugar mills in the state have started the operations till December 4, 2021. The mills have produced 227.38 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 245.52 with a recovery rate of 9.26 per cent.
Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum (41) sugar mills operating during the ongoing crushing season. The mills here have produced 48.85 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 57.60 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.48 per cent.
Sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have produced 66.95 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 63.44 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.55%.
