Nashik: Sugar mills should focus on making by-products to make the sugar mills viable and profitable, said NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Monday.
He was speaking while inaugurating the school building in Khedgaon in Dindori taluka.
Pawar asked sugar mills to produce ethanol, power and hydrogen apart from making sugar. The income generated through the byproducts would help mills to sustain and increase their income which will ultimately result in increasing income of farmers.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Nashik Sugar Cooperative mill employees union met Pawar and urged him to revive the sugar mill, which has been closed from past many years. He assured them to look into the matter.
