Kolhapur region registers 11.66 per cent sugar recovery so far

Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra is in the last leg and the sugar mills would start shutting their operations soon in the next few days.

According to the data released by the sugar commissionerate, 197 sugar mills are operating in the state. The mills have, till February 24, 2022, produced 938.27 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 916.07 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.24 per cent.

Kolhapur division is leading in the state in terms of recovery rate with the mills in the division producing 250.21 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 214.61 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.66 per cent. Kolhapur region has always remained ahead in the recovery rate.

Maximum sugar mills are operating in the Solapur division with 46 mills. The mills have produced 198.91 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 215.45 lakh tonnes of sugarcane till February 24, 2022.
