Mumbai: The equity benchmark indices ended lower today. Sensex closed, on March 21, 571.44 points lower at 57,292.49. Nifty ended 174.20 points lower at 17,112.85.
In the previous season, Sensex closed, on March 17, 1,047.28 points higher at 57,863.93. Nifty ended 311.70 points higher at 17,287.05.
Among the sectors, auto, banks, realty and power shed over a percent each while buying was seeing in metal names. The midcap index shed half a percent while the smallcap index added over 0.5 percent.
