Armed men loot sugar from train in Madhya Pradesh

Morena: Unidentified men armed with weapons looted 43 sugar bags from a goods train in the wee hours on Wednesday in Monera district of Madhya Pradesh, reports PTI.

As per the media reports, the robbers also open fire on the police. One gang member was injured in the retaliatory firing by police and is under treatment.

Police official said “The train heading towards Delhi halted briefly at the Sikroda station following the red signal. At the same time, a gang of robbers started offloading sugar bags. A patrolling team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) noticed the gang and approached them. The gang started firing at the police and police retaliated with the action in which one gang member was injured.”

“The injured has been identified as Ravi Sharma and is admitted to the district hospital for treatment. We have seized all the 43 sacks of sugar kept from the adjoining agricultural field and have launched a search operation for the suspects,” he further added.
