Colombo: Taking action against illegal imports, Sri Lanka Customs seized 12,800 kilos of ethanol that was allegedly illegally imported as Isopropyl alcohol, reports colombopage.com.

The material was imported by an importer from the Wattala area.
According to the Customs, the importer had imported 160 barrels in two containers claiming to be 25,600 kilos of Isopropyl Alcohol but 80 of the barrels contained ethanol.

The Customs officials cleared that the government would have lost around Rs 20 million in revenue if the importer had cleared this as the stock of ethanol.
