Panipat: The newly constructed Panipat Co-operative sugar mill is running at a lower capacity as only 25,000-30,000 quintals of sugarcane are arriving daily for crushing as against the capacity of 50,000 quintals per day, reports Tribune India.
The mill administration is planning to allow the farmers to send their cane directly for crushing even if they don’t have a slip in order to complete the crushing operations.
The mill was inaugurated one week ago by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Earlier the cane was crushed in the old mill set up in 1956 and had a capacity of 18,000-20,000 quintals.
The old mill stopped crushing on March 28 after crushing 28 lakh quintals of cane. The new mill has so far crushed 14 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
