OMCs achieve 9.99 per cent ethanol blending in petrol

New Delhi: India is making remarkable progress in the ethanol sector because of the various steps taken by the government. As a result of this, OMCs have achieved 9.99 per cent ethanol blending in petrol.

Taking to the microblogging site Twitter, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, “9.99% ethanol blending in petrol achieved by our OMCs today, much ahead of the year end target! Now on course to 10%! From just 5% in 2018-19 to 8.1% in 2020-21. India’s energy sector continues its rapid strides into the future – on course to achieving 20% blending by 2025-26.”

“Blended fuels will positively impact the environment, significantly benefit the economy & will prove to be a boon for our farmers,” he further added.

India has set a target of achieving 10 per cent ethanol blending in petrol by December 2022 and 20 per cent ethanol blending by 2030.

The ethanol blending programme aims to reduce the dependence on crude oil imports, boost farmers’ income and become environment friendly.
