Neelima Katiyar, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly and Distinguished Guest congratulated institute for the untiring efforts due to which an institute for Kanpur now has a global recognition. She also congratulated the award winning factories for their efforts and stressed that more efforts shall be required for achieving the ethanol blending targets and welfare of sugarcane farmers.
Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Rural Development in her address lauded the role of institute in growth and development of the Indian Sugar Industry. The institute has made significant progress during the last eight years and we have to ensure that the same continues for which all possible support shall be provided by the ministry. The institute’s vision plan for the restructuring of the institute with setting up of an Alcohol Technology division and starting new courses in “Sugar Business Management” and on “Brewing Technology” are under active consideration.
While congratulating the award winning sugar units, she called upon the sugar industry personnel to work hand in hand with institutes to develop newer technologies for enhancing productivities from farm to factory. The farmers have now not only “Annadata” but also the “Urjadata” and hence the sugar factories are required to look for their welfare as well. The Government of India during the last eight years has pronounced many schemes and has undertaken policy interventions for sustainability of the sugar industry. Due to these, the country could maintain the demand-supply balance in sugar and has achieved the ethanol blending target of 10% during the year, she said.
Prof. D Swain delivered the vote of thanks.
