Sugarcane farmers climb on water tank demanding pending cane dues

Sangrur: Sugarcane farmers climbed atop a water tank at the Dhuri office of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann demanding the release of pending cane dues from private sugar mill, reports The Tribune.

The farmers have been protesting for the last three days (till Thursday). One of the three protesters has been admitted to a local hospital as his health deteriorated.

Harjeet Singh Bugra, chairman of the Sugarcane growers committee said that the local sugar mill owes dues worth Rs 14 crore to the farmers.
The protesters have threatened to oppose the AAP candidate in the Sangrur Lok Sabha bypoll if authorities fail to get released the dues
