Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is emerging as distilleries hub as 13 new distilleries in Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Rampur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Gorakhpur, Amroha and Deoria are being set up, said the government officials, reports Hindustan Times.
Around Rs 20,000 crore will be invested to set up these distilleries. “This will help the state to become a hub of distilleries generating additional revenue for the state,” said Sanjay Bhoosreddy, additional chief secretary (excise).
“UP has attracted investment of Rs 6,500 crore so far and within the last five years, the number of distilleries have increased from 61 to 78. This has resulted in an increase in alcohol production capacity from 170 to 270 crore bulk litres and the production of ethanol also went up from 42 to 115 crore bulk litres,” he further added.
