Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) will hold a meeting today with sugar mills and exporters regarding the upcoming season 2022-2023. The information was shared by DFPD on its official Twitter handle.
DFPD said in a tweet, “As a proactive measure, DFPD is conducting a meeting on 15.06.2022 with Sugar Mills and Exporters to discuss Export of Sugar in ensuring the season 2022-23.”

Recently, the global shortage of sugar has triggered the demand, therefore Indian government by taking a precautionary step capped sugar export to 100 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) for season 2021-22.
