Bengaluru: The Karnataka high court has dismissed public interest litigation (PIL) against the state government’s decision to shift the office of the Sugarcane Development and Directorate to Belagavi city stating that it is a policy decision, reports The Times of India.
A division bench headed by chief justice Ritu Raj Awasthi while dismissing the petition observed that this is a policy decision and it is not in dispute that Belagavi is the area which involves several sugar mills and is called ‘The Sugar Bowl of Karnataka’.
The petition was filed by Bandappa Kote and four others challenging the decision of the state government taken on September 30, 2021, to shift the offices with effect from October 1, 2021.
