Pune: Sugar mills in Maharashtra have accelerated the work of preparing the recovery reports to submit to the Sugar Commissionerate, reports The Indian Express.
A total of 79 sugar mills out of 103 mills that had produced ethanol from B-heavy molasses or cane juice have submitted their final recovery report. These reports were certified by Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI), Manjri, Pune.
As per the changes made by the erstwhile Maha Vikas Aghadi government, instead of calculating the recovery at the end of the season, starting from the 2021-22 season, recovery would be calculated and farmers’ payment would be made based on current season’s recovery.
Recovery is directly linked to the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP). Hence it is important to calculate it in time. The government had allowed the first payment to be done considering a 10% base recovery and the final payment would be done within 15 days of the end of the season based on the actual recovery.
