Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane department has issued notices to four sugar mills for not clearing full cane payments to the farmers, reports Amar Ujala.
The department initiated action after local leaders raised the issue of pending cane dues with the Chief Minister.
According to the media report, sugar mills in the district have paid 94.6 per cent of the total cane dues for the ongoing crushing season. Five sugar mills in the district have cleared full payment.
During the chief Minister’s recent visit to the district, the local leaders brought this to his notice following which he asked the concerned authorities to take action against the defaulting mill. The cane department, later on, issued notices to these mills.
