Kribhco plans to set up three ethanol plants in Gujarat, Andhra and Telangana

Krishak Bharati Cooperative (Kribhco) is in process to set up three greenfield grain-based ethanol plants in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, reports Financial Express.

The plants will come up in the next three years and the estimated cost of these plants will be Rs 1,000 crore. Kribhco has formed a special purpose vehicle (SPV), Kribhco Green Energy to look after the setting up of these bio-ethanol projects. The company has received environmental clearance for an ethanol distillery (grain-based) at Hazira (Surat) and the foundation stone of the plant will be laid by Union Minister of cooperation Amit Shah.

Paresh Patel, the director of Kribhco, said, “The Hazira plant will have a capacity of 250-kilo liters per day (KLPD) and will invest around Rs 350 crore in the next two years for this ethanol project. The plant will be ready by 2024 and will generate 200 new jobs.”

“By the end of the current season, the work on two plants in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will begin soon and will be investing Rs 700 crore in both plants,” he further added.
