Chennai: As the Samba season is nearing, around 0.62 lakh hectares of the area will come under cane cultivation, said Agriculture Minister MRK Panneerselvam on Tuesday, reports The New Indian Express.
Minister was speaking at a pre-monsoon meeting organised in Chennai. He has asked the officials to be ready to face the forthcoming monsoon period realizing the heavy north-east monsoon in 2021-22.
“Farmers should be advised to use water judiciously and the officials should provide the necessary nutrients to the crops to increase yield,” he further added.
