Farmers refuse to sell sugarcane to sugar mill due to pending dues

Jalalabad: Sugarcane farmers from the region refused to sell their cane to the Thanabhavan sugar mill in upcoming season citing delay in pending cane dues, reports Amar Ujala.

The farmers from Hasanpur Luhari village have decided not to sell their cane to the sugar mill based in Thanabhavan. Locals few days ago had asked administration to set up a cane collection centre for the Titawi sugar mill in their village.

Taking the step to convince cane farmers, Jitendra Singh, AGM, sugarcane, Thanabhavan sugar mill met the villagers with his team on Friday and tried to convince them to send their cane to the sugar mill.

Singh explained to the farmers the procedure to clear cane dues and the reason behind the delay and assured them the speedy payment.

  1. The mill staff tried to convince the farmers but they were opposed in village . The farmers were not ready to supply but due to the nexus ot the Thanabhawan sugar co-oprative society and the sugar factory the anger of farmer went vaste earning no fruit.
    The DCO Shamli too had favoured the Sigarmill.
