Plan to set up ethanol production plant in Sanjivani Sugar Mill

Panaji: The Goa government is considering the proposal to start ethanol production plant at the closed Sanjivani Sugar Mill, reports The Goan.

The government has floated a proposal asking the interested parties to participate in the redevelopment process of the sugar mill. The agriculture department has stated that the sugar mill will be redeveloped by setting up an ethanol production plant.

The proposal states that the redevelopment of the Sanjivani Sahakari Shakar Karkhana will have to be done concurrently with the setting up of an ethanol production plant.

It will be implemented on a PPP mode and a ‘Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) basis.

The interested parties are requested to send their bids in the prescribed formats by November 25.

The factory was set up in 1971 but stopped operations due to heavy losses incurred due to poor management.

The state government had appointed Deccan Sugar Technology to advise on the plan to redevelop the sugar mill.
