Sugarcane crushing for the 2022-23 season commenced at the Ugar unit of The Ugar Sugar Works Ltd, announced the company to the exchanges.
The company in a regulatory filing stated that the cane crushing has begun from October 17 and it will pick up to its full capacity in due course.
According to the ISMA, the sugarcane crushing for the season 2022-23 has started in the southern region and is expected to start soon in other regions also.
After accounting for the reduction of 45 lac tons in sugar production due to diversion of cane juice / syrup and B-molasses to ethanol, ISMA estimated sugar production in 2022-23 at around 365 lakh tons of sugar.
