Mysore: Sugarcane farmers in Karnataka will stage a protest across state on October 27 over delay in cane price.
Kurubur Shanthakumar, president of the State Sugarcane Growers Association said, “The farmers across the state will be blocking roads on October 27 and if there is no response from the government, we will gherao all Deputy Commissioners’ (DCs’) Offices in the State on Oct. 31.”
He said, “The ministers had convened a meeting to discuss the issue but have not taken any decision regarding increasing cane price.”
“We want the government to fix cane price at least Rs 3,500 per tonne,” Shanthakumar further added.
