New Delhi: Aiming to achieve a 20 per cent ethanol target by 2025, the government has given in-principle approval to 61 projects of ethanol production.
These projects will add the ethanol production capacity by 257 crore litres, said the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD).

Out of 257 crore litres, 186 crore litres capacity is expected from grain based distilleries. And all these projects are expected to bring investment of about Rs. 7000 crores.
According to the DFPD, all of these projects already have land and environmental clearances.
