After Punjab, Haryana government may hike sugarcane price

Karnal: Haryana government is planning to increase sugarcane prices for the ongoing crushing season and a proposal in this regard has been submitted to the chief minister, said a senior official of agriculture department, reports The Hindustan Times.

The state government has not yet announced the State Approved Price (SAP) whereas sugar mills have started the crushing season.

Hardeep Singh, Director General, of the Agriculture department said “A proposal of increasing SAP for sugarcane has been submitted to the chief minister.”

State cooperation minister Banwari Lal said the state government is considering hiking sugarcane prices.

The price for cane in Haryana will be higher than that of Punjab, said a senior official.
