According to the Indian Sugar Mills Association, sugar production till 30th November, 2022 in the current 2022-23 Sugar Season is 47.9 lac tons, against 47.2 lac tons produced last year on 30th November 2021. Number of operating factories are also higher at 434 against 416 which operated last year on the corresponding date.

On the ethanol front, the OMCs have so far allocated around 460 Cr ltr for supply in ESY 2022-23 against first two EOI’s floated by them. The OMCs have floated a third EOI for requirement of additional 139 crore litres, for which the last date of submission was 30th November’2022. The OMC’s are currently examining the bids and are expected to do the allocations shortly.
