Chhattisgarh to set up the first ethanol plant in Kawardha

Raipur, Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh’s first-ever ethanol plant will start operations in April this year.

The plant is located at Kawardha, near Bhoramdev Sugar mill, and is built on the PPP model.

The capacity of the plant will be around 80 kilolitres per day at the initial level, according to the state government. The plant will produce ethanol from sugarcane juice during the season and molasses during the off-season. An agreement has been signed between Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Mill and NKJ Biofuel after the global tender.

The project has received in-principle approval from the Central Government for mixing ethanol in petrol and diesel. It is expected that the production of ethanol would bring down the price of petrol and diesel in the state.
