According to the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), sugar production till 31st December, 2022 in the current 2022-23 SS is 120.7 lakh tonnes, against 116.4 lakh tonnes produced last year on 31st December in sugar season 2021-2022, i.e, higher by over 4 lakh tonnes. Number of operating factories are also higher at 509 against 500 which operated last year on the corresponding date.
