Japan plans to invest in Bangladesh’s sugar industry

Japan has shown interest in investing in the sugar industry of Bangladesh along with other sectors, reports Dhaka Tribune.

During his visit to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office, Governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Nobumitsu Hayashi expressed an interest to invest in the sugar sector.

JBIC is interested to provide loans to Japanese entrepreneurs for investing in sugar and allied sectors in Bangladesh, he said.

The offer was appreciated by PM Hasina who said that the Japanese investors can invest in one or two sugar mills.
