Farmers angry over delay in announcing cane price

Meerut: Sugarcane farmers have decided to launch an indefinite strike against the government’s failure to announce sugarcane prices for the ongoing crushing season, reports Live Hindustan.

Farmers have launched their protest at Chou. Charan Singh Park for their demand.

Anu Malik, vice president of Kisan Mazdoor Sangh, said, “Government is giving step-motherly treatment to the sugarcane farmers. Farmers are bearing the brunt of increased input costs and cost of fertilizers and they are expecting a hike in the sugarcane price but the government has not yet announced it for the ongoing crushing season when the season is about to end now.”

Farmers have stated that they will not call off their agitation till the government accepts their demands.
