TDP promises to support sugarcane farmers of Nindra

Nara Lokesh, general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has stated that the party will support the distressed sugarcane farmers of Nindra that have been denied their due by the defunct sugar factory, reports The Hindu.

Sugarcane farmers met him during his campaign ‘Yuvagalam’ that entered Tirupati district on Tuesday. Farmers told him that the Nindra sugar mill shut its operations by defaulting dues worth Rs 37 crore of the 4,000 farmers.

Farmers stated that the district collector and the Minister for Tourism and Youth Affairs R K Roja have not listened to their grievances and the YSR Congress Party leaders promised to resolve the issue but have done nothing so far, they said.

Mr. Lokesh promised them that he will force the factory to clear their dues with interest and stated that he will ensure that the farmers get remunerative prices for their produce in the future.
