Roorkee: Sugarcane farmers in Haridwar are welcoming a new trench system of sugarcane sowing than the traditional one, reports Live Hindustan.
Around 1.75 lakh cane farmers are engaged in agricultural activities on 1.14 lakh hectares of area. Out of these 70% of the area is under sugarcane cultivation. Farmers were earlier using the traditional method of sowing cane which includes sowing cane seeds and putting them in half feet pit. Now they are using a new trench system of sowing cane in their fields.
