Rishikesh: Former chief minister Harish Rawat has said that the government has affected the financial condition of farmers by not increasing the sugarcane price for the ongoing crushing season, reports Live Hindustan.
Farmers are not getting the appropriate rate for their produce due to not hiking the cane price, he said.
“We were expecting that the sugarcane crop will taste sweet this season as the government would hike cane price but by not hiking the cane price, the cane has become sour now. We were expecting the government to hike cane price to Rs 400 or Rs 450 per quintal,” he said.
