Panaji, Goa: The state government has initiated the process for the evaluation and shortlisting of the bids received for the redevelopment of the Sanjivani sugar mill at Dharbandora through a public-private partnership (PPP) mode, said Agriculture minister Ravi Naik, reports The Times of India.
We had also invited the request for quotes (RFQ) to award the project to be converted into an ethanol plant, he said.
Sugarcane crushing has been stopped at the sugar mill since 2019-20. A six-member committee under the chairmanship of chief minister Pramod Sawant has been set up to decide the fate of the mill. The committee has approved setting up a 40 klpd ethanol production distillery unit at the mill and the Deccan Sugar Technologies Association has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) for 700 tonnes of cane per day (TCD) plant and distillery of 45 klpd dual-feed ethanol plant. The government has approved the proposal.
