Rajaram sugar mill poll: Separate areas for rivals on counting day

Kolhapur: The authorities have set up two separate areas for the two factions contesting the election of Rajaram Cooperative Sugar Mill, Kolhapur, to avoid any tension between them on counting day, Tuesday, reports The Times of India.

The tussle is between arch-rivals MLC Satej Patil of Congress and Mahadevrao Mahadik of BJP.

Taking steps to avoid tension, the police have allocated separate spaces for their supporters that are arriving to hear the results.

The supporters of Patil will be asked to stay in the Ramanmala area while the supporters of Mahadik will be asked to stay near Dream World Water Park.

According to the election authorities, the counting of paper ballots will take place in two rounds on 29 tables. A total of 58 booths were set up for voting and 91% of voting was recorded.
