Nagpur, Maharashtra: Nagpur region has registered lowest sugar production this season while Kolhapur bagged the top spot.
Kolhapur region has produced 265.54 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 231.92 lakh tonnes of sugarcane and the Nagpur division has produced 3.84 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 4.83 lakh tonnes of sugarcane.
According to the sugarcane commissionerate, a total of 210 sugar mills in the state participated in the cane crushing operations and they produced 105.27 lakh tonne sugar ( as against 127.53 lakh tonne sugar last season) by crushing 1,054.75 lakh tonne cane.
Maharashtra has witnseed dip in average sugar recovery. It has been reported at 9.98%, lower by 0.44% than the preceding season. The highest recovery was reported in the Kolhapur region with 11.45% and the lowest recovery was 7.20% in the Nagpur division.
