Patna: Sugarcane crushing season in Bihar ended without fixing the crop purchase price, reports Live Hindustan.
Sugar mills have purchased cane from farmers this season at the rate fixed by the government for the 2021-22 season. Farmers claim that they are bearing financial losses as input costs have increased substantially.
The sugarcane industry department had asked the representatives of the sugar mills to propose to fix sugarcane prices but nothing happened in this direction and the season concluded without fixing cane prices.
According to media report, the lack of consensus between the government and the millers delaying cane price increase.
