Roorkee, Uttarakhand: Sugarcane farmers under the leadership of former chief minister Harish Rawat launched a sit-in agitation outside the Iqbalpur sugar mill demanding payment of pending cane dues, reports Jagran.
Before launching the agitation, Rawat visited dozens of villages in the Bhagwanpur assembly constituency and interacted with farmers and appealed to them to participate in the agitation.
He said, “The state government is not taking any action against the sugar mill for clearing pending cane dues and farmers are bearing financial stress due to delay in cane payment”.
He has appealed to all the farmers to participate in the agitation against the sugar mill.
