Muzaffarnagar: The area under cane cultivation in Muzaffarnagar is increasing every year, reports Amar Ujala.
Out of 2 lakh hectares of cultivable land in the district, cane is cultivated onn 85% of the area. The area under cane cultivation has been increasing in the last five years. Around 1.42 lakh hectares of area was under cane cultivation in 2018-19 which was increased to 1.47 lakh hectares in 2019-20, 1.64 lakh hectares in 2020-21, 1.68 lakh hectares in 2021-22 and 1.71 lakh hectares in 2022-23.
Sugar mills in the district have produced record 104.47 lakh quintals of sugar due to an increase in the area under cane cultivation as well as an rise in the yield due to the use of new cane variety 0238.
