Malaysia: Sugar supply shortage worsens in Kedah

Alor Star: The state is currently grappling with sugar supply shortage which has worsened in the last two weeks, as per the Consumers Association of Kedah (Cake), reports News Strait Times.

These concerns have arisen just a day after the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs assured that the sugar supply situation was gradually improving in the state.

Cake President, Yusrizal Yusoff, emphasized the impact of the sugar shortage on the small and medium-sized (SME) food and beverage sector in the state and urged the government to take necessary steps to address the issue.

Our representatives from Kubang Pasu, Sik and Kulim have confirmed that there is a shortage of sugar supply in all the districts in the state, he said.

The traders in the Tanjung Dawai have closed their businesses due to the shortage, said Yusoff.
