Sugar mill’s workers demand payment of pending wages

Workers at the Upper Doab Sugar Mill in Shamli have accused the management of failing to pay nearly 12 crore rupees in wages. The mill workers have submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate (DM) demanding the settlement of their dues, reports Live Hindustan.

On Wednesday, the mill workers filed a complaint at the DM’s office, stating that the pending payments for the working staff in the sugar mill have been accumulating since 2018. Approximately 12 crore rupees are owed to the mill’s workers. They have been working overtime since 2018, and they are demanding the payment for their overtime wages.

They claimed that moreover, around 200 retired employees have not received their arrears since 2013. Additionally, the payment for employees’ leaves since 2020 has not been made, causing financial strain to retired workers. They are demanding the settlement of their final payments. The financial situation of the working staff at the sugar mill is dire, with employees facing extreme hardship. Therefore, they are urging the prompt payment of their outstanding dues.
